Medical IoT

Medical -  IoT Solutions

Why choose HIVASO for your Medical IoT Project?

We have led engagements on several Healthcare projects, including one for one of the largest countries in Europe. This involved integrating multiple different medical manufacturers ventilators and associated monitoring machines, with a GDPR and regional healthcare approved Cloud.

This involved  integrating the data from each machine, and synchronizing it so that the clinician was presented with a computer display which accurately reported on the patient’s condition, sub-second.

The benefits to the patients and clinicians, and IT support staff were many, and some of them are summarised here;
Patients could be supported from home by using the IoT technology to report their condition immediately to medical staff. This was welcomed by patients who felt they could recover at home, and still feel they had the immediacy of medical support if it was ever needed.

Clinicians could monitor many patients from their office, or anywhere they had internet access. We also enable clinicians to have the same look and feel across different medical machines. This reduced the amount of training or cross training normally required, to allow a clinician to use new or different medical devices. This in turn reduced the cost of support and reduced the risk of a clinician not being as familiar with how different medical machines operated.

The use of IoT to abstract away the underlying technology from the required patient medical data, this enabled the regional hospital’s purchasing department to avoid the restriction of single sourcing machines. This gave the purchasing department the ability to negotiate better contractual agreements without reducing the quality of equipment sourced.

Our staff have the experience of working on projects involving patients being treated at home (on ventilators/monitors) and in small and in large hospitals.

We can integrate any device, from any vendor with any Cloud. We know how to gain help and support from the various vendors, even although they will at first prefer to promote their own proprietary “lock-in” technology.

Our experienced staff are regularly asked to present our IoT experience in the medical field to healthcare staff and their IT support staff. The next such event is on the 21st September 2022, see below for details
Next Medical Event; Healthcare and the Internet of Things (IoT) How to Identify and Avoid Technical and Commercial Pitfalls.

Date and registration details; Wednesday 21st September 2022 @ 6:00 PM Local time (UTC +1 hours) and will be available via ZOOM. Please use this link to register;

GDPR, HIPAA and other Regulatory Compliance

This is an area that is not well understood by “technology integrators or resellers”.  We know how to manage the various regulatory requirements, starting at the sensors, gateways, and including the back-end databases, applications and cloud(s).

Cloud options that avoid "lock-in"

Whatever commercial, opensource, or hybrid cloud technology you want, we can deploy and support you. We can migrate you between clouds, and design and build a cloud that allows you to avoid any technical, or commercial restrictions.

Databases and applications

We recommend applications installed both in your cloud(s) and also on the IoT gateways, the latter adds resilience in case of WAN issues.

We can expand existing/legacy databases/applications, and design and deploy new databases/applications, or deploy any combination of legacy and new.

Repurposing of existing technology

Repurposing hardware is usually less disruptive than replacing it. Similarly extending the useful life of existing databases and applications, can be useful, espcially where change needs to be achieved in a production environment.
In an ideal environment our IoT solution would consist purely of opensource software and open standards based hardware. However much of your design will be constrained by existing skill-sets, and supplier commitments.

Our philosophy is very much aimed at avoiding vendor lock-in, so that you have the ability to choose and make your own determinations about your long-term strategy.

on-premises "cloud"

You might want your sensitive data, to be routed to your on-premises cloud, and customer facing data to a commercial cloud, that has the ability to scale on demand?

commercial cloud

We can configure the on-site hardware to route data or machine metrics to multiple commercial (and on-premises) clouds simultaneously. Or even route one type of data Azure, and another type to AWS.

opensource cloud

Deployed by thousands. Proven production at scale. OpenStack is a set of software components that provide common services for cloud infrastructure.

 Hardware with the widest range of global certification.

agnostic

Whatever your requirements in terms of hardware, we will work with you to find the right platform.

avoiding lock-in

We suggest using an opensource development environment, to avoid being locked-in to any specific manufacturer’s products.

product shortages

We recommend using containers, so that you can install your edge applications on a wider range of manufacturers products.
